Japanese households have an elevation in level at the entrance, and people remove their shoes before entering.
This is because Japan has a cultural living style of sitting on the floor, so it is important to maintain the cleanliness of the indoors. Also another reason is that in Japan, where the atmosphere is moist, it is essential to ventilate underneath the floor.

On the other hand, these slight rises at the entrance are a big nuisance to the elderly. Every time they exit, they must "1.Sit on the floor 2.Put on their shoes 3.Stand up" which is damaging to their hips.
Hence, I suggested a bench with a differing leg height.

This bench allows you to easily put on your shoes and go outdoors by "1.Sit on the bench 2.Slide your body 3.Put on your shoes 4.Stand up." Also, this bench contains a shoe rack, so you can store your removed shoes to achieve an efficient use of space.
